What is an Immigration Bond?
When someone you care about has been detained by Immigration and Customers Enforcement (ICE) and you want to get them released, an immigration bond is sometimes required.
Much like a Bail Bond, an Immigration Bond is a surety that the person held will both attend court and also comply with the outcome and orders from the judge.
What are the Types of Immigration Bonds?
There are two main types of Immigration Bonds (ICE form I-352):
1) Delivery Bond: The main purpose of this bond is surety of court attendance, which allows your loved ones to spend time with family and consult with immigration lawyers.
2) Voluntary Departure Bond: Detainees through this bond are given the opportunity to leave the country at their own expense by a specified time period.
